Does anything exist that can generate a TZSP monitoring stream on an Android tablet, for analysis on a PC using WireShark?
The context is that I'm very slowly doing a "deep dive" into the firmware and control software of a cheap drone, as described at <https://mmelchior.wordpress.com/2021/03/15/redefining-a-drone-with-software-part-1/> ("Hoshi Simtoo Moment"). Unlike what he's doing, I've plumbed FTDI clone modules into the serial data between the drone's WiFi receiver and its flight controller, and analyzed the dataflow which turns out to be pure MAVLink v1 (analysis software not yet published).
The drone is normally controlled from an app running on an Android tablet, typically no later than v8 due to an API version range declaration in the APK. However since this relies on a direct WiFi link from the tablet to a dedicated Access Point on the drone, I can't use my normal technique of intercepting the dataflow in a PC acting as a router <https://github.com/MarkMLl/port-mirroring> and directing a TZSP stream (actually a sequence of UDP packets) to a copy of WireShark.
I'm aware of there being various apps using PCAP etc., but apart from the inconvenience of using the tablet both for control (of a dynamic and potentially dangerous device) and monitoring, these tend to be oriented towards HTTP etc. which MAVLink is most definitely not.
The alternative would be to try to run the drone-control app in an Android emulator on a PC, but I suspect that things like the drone's custom AP would make this tricky.
I'm not a sufficiently experienced Android developer that I could merge the TZSP interceptor with existing PCAP code to run on Android, so any suggestions would be appreciated.
