How l could retrieve or see unsaved edits in local browser html file that were gone due the html file not being auto saving
I wanted to create an interactive artifact with Claude, and I asked it, since I do not have any knowledge of code, to create an HTML document that I could fully edit and save directly in the file by typing in it instead of coding.
Long story short, it created one, though I mistakenly assumed that it had also made it with an auto-save feature. However, it only had the export option. I accepted it because I thought Claude probably could not add an auto-save feature, so I continued creating the artifact as I wanted it.
I started making all the changes and edits I wanted in the artifact one by one, and I added new things for a concept that I had not yet told Claude about. The artifact had already been made by Claude, but I started adjusting it more to how I wanted it. I made changes and edits and added some other things that had not yet been explained to Claude. By that point, I had made some important changes, added details, and written long texts describing those changes.
After about a day, I went to the artifact window to continue the concept, but it refreshed. Since it did not have an auto-save feature, all the edits and changes were gone, and it reverted back to its original form. I did not think of saving the changes myself through other means, as I had many more to do and did not want to lose time saving each one after I had done it, because I would never finish. I thought I would finish quickly. That was my mistake.
I obviously regret it now, because the changes I had made up to that point were very important to the concept. They were long texts with analytical descriptions. Is there any way to retrieve them?
The question is: is there any way I could retrieve the edits and changes, or are they gone completely? The local live browser history, which was not saved, must be what my problem is, if I am not mistaken. However, I am not sure whether that is the correct name for it. I do not have much knowledge of these things in general, so maybe someone here knows better.
I used the Sonnet 4.6 free version, and the HTML document/artifact and everything else were downloaded from Claude in Samsung Internet on Android. The file was opened in Media External Downloads through the Samsung Internet browser on Android, and I use Android in general, if that helps.
I do not have much knowledge of these things, and as I said, I would really welcome someone’s help. I had written so many extensive details that were valuable for the concept, and I just cannot remember them now. So if there is any way to retrieve them, or to see exactly what I had written, please tell me. I would really appreciate it.
I'm not finding it clear where you were actually writing the HTML. Normally, you write HTML and other code in an external editor, then load the file into the browser (at least when the file is local).
Where was the code being edited in? Refreshing the browser page won't cause you to lose code present in an editor that's outside of the browser.
